5 great things about the i30 Fastback

The latest member of Hyundai’s i30 family along with the i30 five-door, the i30 Wagon and the i30 N, the i30 Fastback is being billed as the first elegant five-door coupe to enter the compact segment. Designed, developed, tested and manufactured in Europe, the i30 Fastback had its world premiere in Düsseldorf, Germany and has been wowing industry publications ever since.
The five-door design is described as a game-changer by the Korean manufacturer, giving the Fastback the spirit of a coupe, accentuated by its dynamic silhouette. And it’s this look that has been making headlines in the auto world, with Italian publication Quattroruote claiming that the premium style of the i30 Fastback “opens the door to a wider target audience than ever before” for the segment. The i30 Fastback’s dynamic design also drew compliments from Germany’s Autobild, which wrote that the Fastback’s rear spoiler “wouldn’t look amiss on a Porsche 911”.
The latest video for the Hyundai i30 Fastback highlights how the car’s look, feel, performance and features match up with all the elements that the modern driver cares for. Shape, lines, touch, and tech are all characteristics taken care of by the elegant new model.

Design is one of the key considerations for European drivers when choosing a new car model and with one of two new additions to the i30 range, Hyundai Motor introduces a new style statement.
Occupying a slot between a hatchback and a saloon, it brings together sporty accents and dynamic performance, sophisticated sculpting and premium technology. Like other members of the i30 range, the Fastback offers Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driving assistance features but it’s the sleek design that has been turning heads.
Here are five great features to note about the i30 Fastback:

Looks

It’s longer and lower than other cars in its class giving it that sporty appearance. The length of the All-New i30 Fastback is 150mm longer than a standard five-door hatchback, and the height has been reduced by 25mm compared with the i30 five-door. The sense of movement is enhanced by the tail lamps which wrap around the rear. There are also stylish new wheels available up to 18 inches in diameter.

Shape

The shape of the i30 Fastback is designed to emphasise the new-look bonnet. The cascading grill, the signature mark of Hyundai models, has been reduced in height which, combined with the wide horizontal air intake gives the front of the car a sense of width. These, according to Raf Van Nuffel, Head of Product Marketing and Pricing at Hyundai Motor Europe, “make the i30 Fastback look bold and strong on the road.” The car is designed to combine the spirit of a sports car with the sophistication of a luxury saloon.

Tech

The i30 Fastback’s smart connectivity features offer drivers a wide variety of choice. These include a standard five-inch radio and full-map navigation with an eight-inch touchscreen. Smart device synching is catered for with Android Auto and Apple Car Play allowing drivers to connect their phones to the car’s onboard computer. Voice-recognition Bluetooth technology is available and there’s also wireless phone charging removing the need for cables in the car cockpit. Other features include a rear parking assist system with a rear-view camera while LED headlights and a panoramic sunroof are also available as a choice.

Touch

The i30 Fastback delivers dynamic and agile handling. This is enhanced by its low centre of gravity – achieved by dropping the chassis by 5 millimetres compared to the i30 hatchback. Apart from performance, the car offers riding comfort and interior space. The i30 Fastback has more than 450 litres of boot space in comparison to the hatchback’s 395.
And beneath the bonnet, the i30 Fastback comes with a choice of two turbocharged petrol engines from the i30 range and a six-speed manual transmission or a choice of a seven-speed dual clutch transmission for the larger engine option.

Safety

State-of-the-art safety features include AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking), Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Alert and High Beam Assist. Blind-spot warning is also available. Hyundai’s five-year/unlimited-mileage warranty is also included.
The Hyundai i30 Fastback is available across Europe from early 2018. It is the latest model by Hyundai built to democratise advanced design. As Thomas Schmid, Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor Europe states, the Fastback’s design incorporates the essence of Hyundai’s philosophy, “making premium design accessible for everyone.”
