Press material

As a pioneer in the field, Hyundai Motor is taking the next step to advance hydrogen mobility by releasing its new Hyundai Fuel Cell app, as well as a new Remote Diagnostics system.
Both features will be inaugurated in a European road trip. The new Hyundai Fuel Cell App available for iOS and Android is the first of its kind: it shows ix35 Fuel Cell owners and drivers of any other fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) the way to all hydrogen refuelling stations across Europe, including live information on the availability of the stations. Also included are all European Hyundai-certified fuel cell car dealerships and navigation via Google Maps. Users additionally have access to information about Hyundai’s ix35 Fuel Cell car.

From Bergen to Bolzano with the Hyundai Fuel Cell app

The Hyundai Fuel Cell app will be profiled during a five-day road trip across Europe, featuring ix35 Fuel Cell. The route travels from Bergen in Norway across Denmark, Germany and Austria to finally arrive in Bolzano, Italy. The aim of the 2,500-kilometre journey is to prove the endurance and practicality of fuel cell cars like the ix35 as well as promoting the already growing European hydrogen infrastructure. To coordinate refuelling, drivers on this trip are using the new Hyundai Fuel Cell app.

Remote Diagnostics pushing sustainable hydrogen mobility

Hyundai Motor’s digital approach to promoting hydrogen technology and infrastructure further includes the new Remote Diagnostics function. This feature implemented in the ix35 Fuel Cell records distance, speed and used hydrogen fuel and is therefore not only able to send drivers helpful notifications in real time, but also to gain valuable information and insights that will be used to enhance the further development of hydrogen technology and infrastructure worldwide, making a substantial contribution to innovation in Fuel Cell technology.

A leader in alternative powertrain technology

As the world’s first mass-produced Fuel Cell car the ix35 Fuel Cell already made history. There are currently 300 Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell cars on European roads. That is more than all FCEVs from every other manufacturer combined. Following the introduction of the All-New IONIQ, Hyundai Motor is the only manufacturer in the world to offer four electrified powertrains in its range: fuel cell, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric.
