All-New Hyundai Kona: seven great features
Hyundai Motor has created seven exciting new clips to showcase how Hyundai's All-New Kona reflects and caters for the lifestyle of modern customers.
With its progressive design, premium features, accessible connectivity and latest safety technologies, the All-New Hyundai Kona expresses the lifestyle of modern urban customers and makes a confident statement of who you are: You drive it, You define it.
To convey this strong message, Hyundai Motor has created a series of visually dynamic and exciting clips to engage its target audience. Each video focuses on one of seven features of that showcase the Kona’s bold and completely new compact SUV platform and demonstrate how it meets the highest European customer expectations.
For the first time in a Hyundai, the Kona’s new head-up display (HUD) projects relevant driving information – such as audio mode, speed, navigation commands and warnings – directly to the driver’s line of sight. This allows faster processing of information while keeping your attention on the road ahead and supporting safe driving.
With a projected image size of eight-inch at two meter distance and class-leading luminance of more than 10,000 candela per square metre, the new HUD guarantees best visibility in different light conditions. Once activated via the button beside the steering wheel, it deploys vertically and disappears into the dashboard when not in use.

Head-up Display
For the first time in a Hyundai, the Kona’s new head-up display (HUD) projects relevant driving information – such as audio mode, speed, navigation commands and warnings – directly to the driver’s line of sight. LED Headlamps
Kona’s unique twin headlight design with LED Daytime Running Lights creates an unmistakable front light signature. Featuring cutting-edge technology, it pairs daylight-like illumination with a long lifetime and significantly lower energy consumption than halogen lights.
The full-LED headlights with Smart High Beam detect both oncoming vehicles and vehicles in the same lane ahead at night, and automatically changes to low-beam as appropriate, reducing blinding effects on other drivers. Whenever there are no vehicles detected, the system automatically reactivates the high beams. The static Low Beam Assist (LBA-S) turns additional lamps on and off based on the vehicle’s speed and steering angle.
Wireless charging
Kona delivers the seamless connectivity you expect and innovative tech that makes life easier like wireless phone charging. Located in the centre console, a wireless inductive charging pad (Qi standard) lets you easily charge a compatible Qi-enabled smartphone without the use of messy and unsightly cables.
The phone’s charging status is visualised with a small indicator lamp above. To ensure the phone will not be forgotten inside the car, the central display in the instrument cluster will show a reminder when switching off the car.
Turbocharged engine
Kona is shaking up the compact SUV class with serious performance from its 177 HP turbocharged engine, which takes you from 0 to 100 in under 8 seconds. With All Wheel Drive, this in-house developed, downsized 1.6 T-GDI four-cylinder turbo petrol engine gives you the power and poise to handle city streets and country roads with ease – and get there with a smile on your face.
Kona comes equipped with Hyundai Motor’s newly developed, compact four-wheel drive and the smooth-shifting 7-speed Double Clutch Transmission, which provides an improvement in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of up to 20% compared with a conventional six-gear automatic transmission and increases acceleration performance by up to 10%.
Eye-catching design
Confident and unique, Kona has been designed to turn heads – and to raise pulses. The bold exterior design catches the eye with muscular sculpted shapes, sleek LED lighting and one-of-a-kind details that highlight the strong Hyundai SUV DNA at its core.
The design is characterised by its distinctive high-contrast fender cladding and the sensuous and muscular surfaces atop a stable and wide stance. Kona also features Hyundai Motor’s new family identity, the Cascading Grille with mesh pattern, which enhances its expressive and dynamic appearance. A two-tone roof and the choice of ten distinctive exterior colours offer many individual combinations for almost every individual style.
All Wheel Drive
Kona offers customers a true SUV experience with an on-demand All Wheel Drive system for optimum handling. It makes driving slippery on surfaces and bumpy country roads safer and much more fun. Because it’s not just getting there, it’s how we feel on the way.
All Wheel Drive supports drivers in all kinds of driving situations, with up to 50% torque distributed to the rear wheels. The on-demand system increases traction on snow, gravel and on regular road surfaces while enhancing cornering performance.
Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
Kona gives you with the seamless connectivity you expect and innovative tech that makes life easier. The optional eight-inch infotainment system integrates all navigation, media as well as both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling users to connect their devices to deliver and control music or telephone functions on-screen.
To give you the best way to listen to that music, Kona offers a high-end, eight-speaker sound system by audio manufacturer Krell, featuring two 20 mm tweeters, four 160 mm woofer speakers, one 100 mm center speaker and a 200 mm subwoofer speaker. The eight-channel amplifier delivers 45 Watt per channel to maximise the audio experience inside the car.
