According to the recent Hyundai Mobility Study, Gen Z views and engages with mobility in a new way. Having grown up in a digital-first world, this generation prioritises sustainability while seeking affordable and practical transportation solutions. As they navigate today’s fast-paced world, balancing work and life becomes key, with their first major transition often happening when they begin university.

With a history of collaborating with educational institutions, Hyundai Motor Europe has partnered with accadis Hochschule in Bad Homburg to embrace this shift. They are working together to support Gen Z, as tomorrow’s leaders, at every step of their education and future careers, as well as exploring technology and innovation in unexpected ways that still align with their interests. Through this partnership, they are shaping the future by helping students pursue their ambitions and make a positive impact on the world.

Orientation week party fuelled by innovation

To mark the start of the new academic year, Hyundai and accadis Hochschule joined forces for a surprise orientation week party on 9 October that reflected the values and lifestyle of Gen Z. Themed ‘Driving New Beginnings’, the event highlighted the partnership’s commitment to inspiring the next generation and supporting their lifestyle and interests.

Following the official orientation programme, 220 new students pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees gathered for the party. Hyundai’s all-new EV, INSTER, arrived at the campus quad, carrying everything needed for the celebration. Showcasing advances in technology, the event reflects how society gravitates more toward innovations that foster connection and community.

I’m a new student, so I’ll have to find the right balance between my studies and having the freedom to explore and have fun. The surprise orientation week party with Hyundai was a perfect example of that. INSTER powered the live music, and seeing how the car could literally become a dorm room was so cool! The whole experience showed me how technology can support me in my everyday life and smoothen the transition to university because I met a lot of new people in a stress-free atmosphere.

DJ set powered by Vehicle-to-Load

A key highlight of the party was the DJ set powered by INSTER’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology. V2L effectively turns cars into power banks on wheels for powering electronics, such as smartphones, laptops, e-bikes, and other devices for travelling and leisure, directly from the battery – anytime, anywhere. This marks the first time that an EV has been used to power a university-affiliated event in Germany.

After connecting his equipment to the car, DJ Fabio Marsilla, a renowned name in the electronic music scene, brought the spirit of 1990s off-grid parties to life with his blend of deep house and techno. His performance echoed the spontaneity and underground vibes of those iconic parties.

Living space on wheels with INSTERoom

The INSTERoom was another standout feature, showcasing INSTER’s spacious and versatile interior. The boot was transformed into a mobile dorm room – the smallest living space, illustrating how the model supports the student lifestyle by offering the possibility to take their personalised space wherever they go. The installation resonated with students’ love for freedom, adventure, and flexibility while leaning into Gen Z’s trend of reducing material possessions.

A collaboration for the future

accadis Hochschule has a tradition of supporting students in both their academic and personal development, preparing them for their careers through partnerships with leading companies. This history of collaboration includes past exchanges with Hyundai, and their ongoing partnership highlights a shared commitment to empowering the next generation. Together, accadis Hochschule and Hyundai provide students with opportunities to develop their skills while offering the freedom to explore their interests and talents.
