Hyundai and Healthy Seas work with volunteer divers from the non-profit organization Ghost Diving to recover abandoned fishing nets and debris from heavily polluted waters, reefs and shipwrecks. These abandoned ghost farms continue to kill marine wildlife for decades. Removing old promotes healthier ecosystems and supports biodiversity in affected areas.

Healthy Seas is dedicated to educating people about the waste that ends up in the oceans and damages marine ecosystems. With Hyundais support, Healthy Seas works to educate local schoolchildren, university students and fishing communities about the dangers of marine waste and raise awareness about how to reduce it.

While clean-ups are important for reducing existing marine debris, long-term protection of our world’s oceans requires preventive measures—such as reducing plastic use and improving waste management. Healthy Seas is partnering with fishing communities, harbour authorities, and the fish farming industry to recover old nets and recycle them, as well as to provide education on best practices for net use and disposal.

Transportation is responsible for roughly 15% of global carbon emissions, more than 70% of which derive from road transport. Electrified vehicles have the potential to significantly reduce carbon emissions resulting from personal transportation. Increasing the share of Hyundai electrified models is a key milestone in our carbon neutrality goal.

Hydrogen is a scalable and efficient fuel source that can contribute to the decarbonization of mobility, (as demonstrated by its use in fuel cell vehicles). Our goal is to promote this groundbreaking energy source by providing innovative, high-quality hydrogen passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Additionally, as pioneers in the hydrogen and fuel cell technologies we are dedicated to researching new uses and raising awareness about the many benefits of hydrogen.
