The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N has continued its electrifying start to life in the UK by picking up another prestigious accolade, being crowned Best Driver’s Car in the TopGear.com EV Awards 2026.

The annual awards, now in their seventh year, are a celebration of the finest choices in the ever-evolving world of electric vehicles, recognising innovation and excellence in a number of key categories.

Top Gear’s expert panel of judges praised the IONIQ 6 N for its ability to transform a highly digital driving experience into something truly engaging, focusing on not just creating a refined performance car with progressive technology but also a car that is fun to drive.

Hyundai is focusing on what creates a satisfying driving experience, which makes its electric ’N’ products living labs for the future of the 'driver's' car. Yes, there are a lot of ideas going on, you have to take some time to figure out what suits, but when you do, there’s a car with balance, power, character and fun.

Since its world premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July last year, the IONIQ 6 N has captured the attention of driving enthusiasts across the globe, and claimed its first major honour in January when it was named Best Electric Performance Car in the 2026 WhatCar? Awards.

Leveraging the technological breakthroughs of the multi award-winning IONIQ 5 N, which was crowned World Performance Car in 2024, the IONIQ 6 N has been engineered for peak driving thrills, offering a unique personality that sets it apart from its hatchback counterpart.

Hyundai’s N division experts have endowed the IONIQ 6 N with an array of advanced features for heightened driving control and engagement, including advanced suspension geometry and a re-engineered chassis.

As seen in the IONIQ 5 N, an electronic limited slip differential (e-LSD) actively manages wheel torque to boost traction and overall performance, while the IONIQ 6 N’s power electronics system unlocks maximum performance from the E-GMP platform. With Hyundai’s N Grin Boost technology engaged, the IONIQ 6 N delivers 650PS and 770Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds (with N Launch Control), and reaching a top speed of 160mph.

There’s also an enhanced N e-Shift system, with shorter gear ratios, plus a newly refined N Active Sound + system with upgraded hardware and focused acoustic tuning for an even more immersive drive, while the distinctive streamliner design of the standard car gains some aggression thanks to five-spoke 20” alloy wheels and a high-performance rear wing.

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N is available to order now, priced from £65,800.

Hyundai has set the bar very high for electric performance cars, with the IONIQ 5 N redefining expectations of what was possible from an EV. Now the IONIQ 6 N is ready to take the next step, taking advantage of all the attributes of the E-GMP platform with a revised suspension set-up and the car’s distinct aerodynamic shape. I am confident that it will further underscore Hyundai’s leadership in this area of the market, and it is pleasing to see that the experts at Top Gear agree, by voting it 2026’s Best Electric Driver’s Car.
