The All-new Hyundai INSTER has added another high-profile accolade to its growing roll of honour by being named Supermini of the Year in the 2026 TopGear.com Awards.
The annual awards are a celebration of the finest new cars on the market, voted for by the experts at one of the UK’s leading motoring news and reviews outlets, and the pioneering All-new INSTER caught their eye.
The Hyundai INSTER is a heady mix of ability and sensible thinking, allied to a happy looking car. Character and ability all in one little package. It saw off the Fiat Grande Panda in our awards head-to-head because it's simply more versatile, more efficient, faster (in terms of charging as well as physically), more fun to drive and has more kit.
The recognition follows other significant awards for the All-new INSTER, including being crowned 2025 World Electric Vehicle at the World Car Awards, and Best Small Electric Car for the City by What Car?
The INSTER is the brand’s first small EV for the European market, and blends robust, but compact SUV styling with effortless urban driving and strong performance on longer drives, thanks to a potential range of up to 229 miles.
The range starts with the INSTER 01 42kWh 97PS, which is priced from £23,505, while the INSTER 02 49kWh 115PS gets under way at £26,755. The more adventurous, ruggedly styled INSTER Cross starts at £28,755. However, all three are currently available with £3,750 off courtesy of the Hyundai Electric Grant, which was introduced in July to help more people make the switch to electric mobility.
Other models in the award-winning electric line-up – which saw Hyundai named 2025 EV brand of the year by Electrifying.com – are available with an immediate saving of £1,500. This applies to the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, triple World Car of the Year winners in 2022 and 2023 respectively and the IONIQ 5 N, the 2024 World Performance Car and a former Top Gear Performance Car of the Year winner. Also covered by the £1,500 saving are the KONA Electric, which remains one of the UK’s most popular electric SUVs, and the All-new IONIQ 9, which blends seven seats with the very latest technology.
TopGear.com’s recognition of the All-new INSTER as the 2026 Supermini of the Year is further validation of the leadership of Hyundai’s electric car range. Our diverse portfolio means we can offer something for everyone, and with financial support available via the Hyundai grant, we’re making it easier for customers to experience the award-winning excellence of all our electric vehicles, as well as the benefits they can bring in terms of long-term savings.
