Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center GmbH, Hyundai Motor Group’s sole research and development Center in Europe, has appointed Tyrone Johnson as its new Managing Director starting from 1 January 2024.
Johnson joined HMETC in August 2018 as Head of Department Vehicle Test & Development Department and was promoted to Director of Vehicle Development in February 2021. Before joining HMETC, Johnson was working at Ford Motor Company in different positions for more than 30 years and thus comes with extensive experience in the automotive industry, having excelled in various leadership roles over the past years.
In his new role as HMETC’s Managing Director, Johnson will be supported by Seon Pyung Kim who has been working as the Managing Director of Hyundai Motorsport in Alzenau since April 2022 and joined HMETC as Vice President on 1st January 2024.

In his new role, Johnson will lead the company to further strengthen its position in Europe and support the Group in becoming a smart mobility solutions provider by driving forward zero-emission mobility.
With his expertise and leadership Johnson will strengthen the company's future business and take over the strategic role as the conduit between HMETC and the Group in South Korea.
