The new Kona Electric picked-up ‘Best Zero Emission car’, while the Kona also won ‘Best Compact SUV’, adding two more accolades to Hyundai Motor’s collection.
The expert judging panel of leasing companies, pricing guides, fleet managers and members of the Fleet News editorial team noted the car’s excellent choice of petrol and diesel powertrains, as well as the stand-out 64kWh battery capacity and range of 279 miles of the Kona Electric. Boosting further its appeal for business use, the Kona Electric also offers BIK payments of only 13% due to its zero-emission powertrain.
Specification levels are high across the range, with a number of features usually reserved for larger luxury cars available; including ventilated seats and a head-up display. Few cars are more representative of the current needs of the fleet sector than the Kona Electric. The small SUV is the first electric car to provide long-range travel at an affordable price. It is also wrapped in a modern, desirable package with a high level of standard features.
The Kona Electric is powered by a 150kW (204ps), or a 100kW (136ps) electric motor driving the front wheels. Kona buyers can also choose between a 1.0-litre 120ps and a 1.6-litre 177ps petrol engine, or an ultra-efficient 1.6-litre 136ps diesel engine. All Kona models boast the same 8.0-inch infotainment console, premium sound system, and suite of driver assistance technologies.
These two awards for the Hyundai Kona is testament to Hyundai’s growing reputation for producing progressive and desirable vehicles available with a choice of ultra-efficient powertrains which appeal to fleet and retail customers alike.
The Kona benefits from Hyundai’s comprehensive five-year unlimited mileage warranty and roadside assistance package. The car is packed with the latest equipment as standard, including the latest active safety features, such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Intelligent Speed Limit Warning.
The Fleet News awards represent the pinnacle of fleet achievement. Impartially judged by some of the most respected fleets, leasing providers and pricing guides in the country, the fastidious judging process ensures only the best companies, people and products are recognised.
