Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the all-new NEXO fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, marking the vehicle’s debut in Japan and underscoring the company’s commitment to hydrogen innovation and sustainable mobility.
The all-new NEXO joins Hyundai Motor’s expansive portfolio of electrified vehicles on display in Tokyo, including the INSTEROID concept car, the award-winning IONIQ 5, and the INSTER Cross. Together, the lineup highlights Hyundai Motor’s diverse electrification capabilities and commitment to providing innovative mobility solutions to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving automotive landscape.
This year’s Japan Mobility Show marks Hyundai Motor’s largest public activation in the Japanese market to date. As part of its efforts to strengthen market presence, the company views the event as a strategic opportunity to further grow visibility and engage younger, environmentally conscious audiences through its industry leading electrification technologies. Hyundai Motor aims to demonstrate its electrification and hydrogen vision in a way that resonates with Japanese consumers through its product showcase and immersive experiences.

In the first half of next year, we plan to introduce the all new NEXO, actively joining Japan’s electrification movement. At the event, Hyundai Motor emphasized its leadership in hydrogen technology by operating a dedicated ‘Hydrogen Journey Zone’, designed to educate visitors on the company’s hydrogen innovations. The zone featured exhibits such as advanced hydrogen fuel cell stacks, Hyundai Motor Group’s HTWO hydrogen solutions brand, and interactive content that communicates the company’s vision for a hydrogen-powered future.
The all-new NEXO, which Hyundai Motor describes as the ultimate expression of its hydrogen technology, boasts significant advancements:
- Sustainability: The all-new NEXO emits zero tailpipe emissions, contributing to cleaner air through its fine dust-removal capabilities during operation.
- Performance: With an improved fuel cell system and battery performance, the NEXO achieves over 826 km of range (WLTP) from a full five-minute charge.
- Safety: Featuring Hyundai Motor’s cutting-edge Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), the all-new NEXO includes advanced features, including highway driving assist, surround view monitoring, remote smart parking assist, and enhanced airbag safety systems.
- Comfort and connectivity: The all-new NEXO introduces premium features such as a Bang & Olufsen audio system, ventilated seating for first row, and eco-friendly interior materials.

Hyundai Motor’s exhibits at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 include several interactive zones, designed to engage visitors with the brand's full spectrum of smart mobility solutions and innovations:
- Hydrogen Journey Zone: Highlighting Hyundai Motor’s leadership in hydrogen technology, with exhibits on the evolution of its FCEV technology, including historic milestones and NEXO’s development. The HTWO brand showcase presents the company’s integrated hydrogen solutions and end-to-end hydrogen value chain, from production to transportation, storage and utilization.
- EV Life Zone: Featuring Hyundai Motor’s globally acclaimed IONIQ 5, visitors can explore E-GMP platform technology and next-generation 1,000V fast-charging infrastructure. During the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Japanese Hyundai owners can share their impressions of EVs and Hyundai vehicles with visitors interested in electrification and the brand.
- EV Imagination Zone: The gaming-inspired INSTEROID concept car showcases Hyundai Motor’s bold design approach and innovation in electrified mobility. Experiences included an interactive Japan Drift Master game and a vision of subculture-inspired design.
- Display Vehicles: Alongside the all-new NEXO and INSTEROID, Hyundai Motor is presenting vehicles including the INSTER EV and the Elec City Town bus at the Working Mobility Zone, introducing a mix of production-ready and concept vehicles designed for diverse mobility needs.
Prior to the show, Hyundai Motor hosted INSTEROID Night, a special event for media, influencers and creative professionals. The event showcased the playful, innovative spirit of INSTEROID through a DJ performance, experiential programs, and a demonstration of the vehicle’s bold design philosophy.
