Hyundai Motor Group (the Group) has clinched the No. 1 spot in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS)SM as Hyundai Motor, Kia and Genesis ranked near the top of the Mass Market and Premium categories.
In the Overall Brand Ranking, Hyundai Motor finished third, Kia finished fourth and Genesis finished thirteenth. As a result, the Group became the highest-ranked corporation in the industry.
The IQS ranked Hyundai Santa Cruz as the Best Midsize Pickup in initial quality. Additional vehicles in Hyundai Motor’s lineup performed well, with Elantra and Tucson finishing third in their respective segments. As a brand, Hyundai Motor improved by seven ranks to secure third place among mass-market automakers.

Two Kia models earned Best-in-Class Awards in the IQS. Kia Carnival was named Most Appealing Minivan and Kia Forte was awarded Most Appealing Compact Car. This is the sixth consecutive win for Forte in its segment. Kia Seltos finished second place in the Small SUV segment and Telluride landed third place among Upper Midsize SUVs. Gaining four positions since the 2023 IQS, Kia ranked fourth overall in the industry.

Genesis G80 topped the Upper Midsize Premium Car category as the brand achieved third place, moveing up two places year-over-year among premium brand. Notably, Genesis has the best IQS rates in the Premium segment for battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
