Hyundai further strengthens its commitment to the European market by renaming its Turkish entity to Hyundai Motor Türkiye

In an official move to better reflect the country’s heritage and manufacturing importance in the European market, Hyundai Assan transitioned its corporate name to Hyundai Motor Türkiye. As a vital pillar within the Hyundai Motor Group, Hyundai Motor Türkiye is one of the country’s leading automotive companies and home to one of the two Hyundai factories on the European continent - the other being in Czechia. The name change applies to both the company’s HQ in Istanbul and its manufacturing facility in İzmit.
A name reflecting the unique identity
The change is seen as a positive development in line with the country’s vital role in the European automotive market, its robust growth as well as its ambitious plans. Moreover, the new name is seen as a confident stance and a statement of Türkiye’s heritage of manufacturing excellence. The main factory is a national source of pride and produces vehicles that are exported to more than 40 countries, primarily in Europe.
As a significant player in the automotive industry, Hyundai Motor Türkiye’s modern facility in İzmit provides the European market and beyond a wide range of Hyundai vehicles as well as automotive parts and warranties.
Through continual modernisation and quality controls, the plant today has a production capacity of 245,000 units and holds vital strategic importance as Hyundai Motor Company’s gateway to Europe.
High quality made in Türkiye
Since it began production in 1997, the İzmit plant has produced over 3 million vehicles and is also Hyundai Motor Company’s first and longest-serving overseas plant. As a testament to its commitment to excellence, the İzmit factory was also honoured as the first among 33 plants within the Hyundai Motor Group to receive a 5-star quality award for standards of excellence. Hyundai will continue to contribute to the Turkish economy and employment by producing high-quality models for the European market and beyond.
