Hyundai Motor Company today announced it is introducing its youth education program Future Mobility School (FMS) to schools in France, marking its European debut.

Hyundai Motor signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the program’s launch with the Korean Education Center in France at the Embassy of Korea in Paris. The ceremony was attended by signatories Sang-Myung Jung, Director of the Korean Education Center in France, and Sung Kim, President of the Strategy & Planning Division at Hyundai Motor Group, along with diplomatic and corporate officials.

What Is the Future Mobility School?

The FMS is an experiential learning program developed by Hyundai Motor to help young people understand future mobility technologies and industry transformation. As of the end of 2025, the initiative has grown into an educational program across more than 2,700 schools and has reached approximately 110,000 students worldwide.

Since 2016, the company has partnered with Korea's Ministry of Education to support student learning on hydrogen technology, autonomous driving and electrification through problem-solving activities. Hyundai Motor expanded its reach in 2023 by partnering with UNESCO's Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) to broaden global educational exchange.

Currently, the company operates FMS programs across Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, the Philippines, and China. A pilot program was also launched at the German School Seoul International in September 2025.

Why Did Hyundai Motor Launch the Program in France?

The MoU was signed to commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France and to provide French students with opportunities to better understand future mobility technologies and industry transformation. It also aims to create opportunities for future generations in both countries to connect through mobility innovation and broaden mutual understanding.

The initiative reflects growing interest in Korean language and culture in France, as well as increasing demand for Korean language education across the country.

Korean language demand in France has reached record levels. In 2026, the Korean Education Center in France received 565 applicants for the TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean), marking the highest number of test-takers since the exam began in France in 2005.

As of 2025, 69 schools in France offered Korean as a foreign language subject, educating approximately 1,800 students. Over the past five years, the number of elementary, middle and high school students in France learning Korean has tripled. At Bordeaux University alone, the Korean language program received 1,400 applications for just 40 available spots. Additionally, the King Sejong Institute in Paris saw more than 900 applicants for its inaugural intake.

What Is Significant About This Initiative?

This expansion marks Hyundai Motor's first European launch and the first integration of Korean-language educational materials into the program, creating a distinctive learning experience.

By combining future mobility education with Korean-language resources, students develop understanding of future mobility technologies while building foundational Korean language skills – enabling them to better understand Korean technological innovation in the mobility sector.
