Hyundai Motor continues to enhance the safety of its multi-award-winning IONIQ 5 with the introduction of a new Digital Centre Mirror (DCM). Working in conjunction with a camera mounted in the car’s rear spoiler, the DCM significantly increases visibility by providing an unobstructed, panoramic, rear-facing view of the car. The DCM offers a rear vision horizontal angle of approximately 20° when in standard optical mode. However, when ‘Digital Mode’ is activated with the simple press of a lever at the base of the mirror, the rear vision horizontal angle increases to approximately 50°, giving drivers a much wider field of vision. ‘Digital Mode’ uses the camera to project a real-time display onto the mirror, optimising the driver's rear view in all conditions, alongside the automatically dimming function.
Start of production of IONIQ 5 model year 2024 is August 2023.
