The Hyundai i30 Fastback - Coherent and timeless Design

Press material

Design has become the number one reason why customers choose Hyundai.
Therefore, the all-new Hyundai i30 Fastback was designed with the intuition and creativity of the Hyundai Motor design team creating a truly desirable car. It combines the spirit of 1950s and 1960s Gran Turismos with a modern and sporty lifestyle. For the i30 Fastback, Hyundai evolved the timeless design language of the i30 five-door by playing with its proportions to create elongated lines and refined rich surfaces. At the same time, the design team tried to offer customers a high level of functionality especially in terms of roominess, good visibility and comfort.

Exterior design

The exterior design of the i30 Fastback develops the i30 design into a smooth five-door coupe, combining the spirit of an elegant Gran Turismo with the comfort for everyday use, allowing customers to take this car everywhere they need to go.
The front of the i30 Fastback features the Hyundai design identity with the Cascading Grille. With the reduction of the Cascading Grille’s height at the front, it appears wider and more clearly defined, emphasising the bonnet. A lower horizontal air intake below the grille gives the i30 Fastback a charismatic front. Strong corners and an angled lower front spoiler create a muscular, proud appearance. Full LED Daytime Running Lights and headlamps with a premium dark bezel round off the i30 Fastback’s visual impact at the front.
Added by the generously designed rear spoiler integrated in the body shell, the i30 Fastback expresses sporty elegance but retains the practicalities required for daily use. The cabin tapers in to the rear end with the three-dimensional sculpted C-pillar giving the cabin a very sleek, teardrop shape. The rear windscreen is inspired by the premium segment and designed with refined shapes, reinforcing the car's tapered belt line. Additionally, the daylight opening highlights the C-pillar, which leaves a lasting impression and creates a vivid play of light and shadow. The roof has been lowered by 25 millimetres and the i30 Fastback is 115 millimetres longer than the i30 five-door.
The Hyundai i30 Fastback is equipped with 17-inch two-tone 10-spoke alloy wheels as standard and has the option of 18-inch two tone 10-spoke alloy wheels for Premium 1.4 and Premium SE 1.4 models.
There are nine exterior colours available for customers to personalise their car, consisting of solid Engine Red and Polar White; metallic hues of Fiery Red, White Sand and Micron Grey; and pearl finishes in Platinum Silver and Phantom Black. New across the i30 range for the 2019 model year are Olivine Grey, Stellar Blue.

Interior design

The interior design of the i30 Fastback convinces customers with clean and sleek surfaces. The horizontal layout of the instrument panel taken over from the i30 five-door conveys an elegant impression and a feeling of roominess. High quality materials and chrome surroundings are the core of the interior design giving an expression of luxury. The floating display of the eight-inch navigation touchscreen on the dashboard integrates all connectivity and navigation features. The new multifunction steering wheel allows easy and intuitive operation of all entertainment functions and allows the driver to concentrate on the road ahead. The reduction of centre console buttons enhances intuitive operation.
The Hyundai i30 Fastback offers plenty of space for passengers and luggage alike, without compromising on interior roominess for its sporty and elegant exterior design. The feeling of space is enhanced on Premium SE models by the standard panoramic glass sunroof, which can tilt or slide open. While driving, the armrest slides forward for the most comfortable position and may also be opened to access additional storage underneath. To enable customers to carry everything they need, the i30 Fastback offers generous luggage capacity of up to 450 litres with all seats up and a maximum of 1,351 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
SE Nav and Premium models are available with a Black interior, with combination leather and cloth seats. Premium SE models continue with the same Black interior, with full leather seats as well as offering the additional customer option of a two-tone Grey and Black interior.
For enhanced comfort on Premium and Premium SE models, the front seats can be heated in three stages and can be electrically adjusted in 10-ways including a lumbar support function. Additionally, the driver’s seat features a memory function with two programmable seat positions.
