The choice of powertrains strengthens the suitability of the car for a variety of lifestyles.

Powertrains

The Kona Electric offers either 39-kWh or a 64-kWh battery which provide an electric range of 180 or 278 miles and an energy consumption of 15 kWh / 15.4 per 100km (under WLTP testing). The electric motor delivers an output of up to 150 kW, accelerating the Kona Electric from 0 to 62 mph in impressive 7.6 seconds on the 64kWh model.

395 Nm of immediate torque is available, bestowing Kona Electric with fun-to-drive dynamics, with full power available from the first second, and providing a maximum speed of 96/104 mph.

The shift-by-wire system enables operation of the car simply by pressing buttons to switch driving modes. It also eliminates the routing space required for housing the linkages between a mechanical gear shift and the transmission, providing additional storage space in the front of the car. The fully-electric subcompact SUV also features an electronic parking brake (EPB).

Kona Electric now also fitted with an 10.5kW 3-phase on board charger (OBC), which can reduce charging time by up to 23% when charging from a compatible fast charger, with a 0-80% charge achieved in 57/75 minutes (39kWh/64kWh) on a 50kW charger.
