Performance & Dynamics

Powertrain configurations

The new Hyundai IONIQ 6 and the new Hyundai IONIQ 6 N Line are built on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), combining high efficiency with refined performance. Both variants use advanced lithium-ion polymer batteries available in two capacities – 63.0 kWh (Standard Range) and 84.0 kWh (Long Range).

In its Standard Range (63 kWh) rear-wheel-drive configuration, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 delivers 125 kW (170 PS) and 350 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. The Long Range (84 kWh) RWD version increases output to 168 kW (229 PS) while maintaining the same torque level and achieving 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

The Long Range (84 kWh) all-wheel-drive model combines a 74 kW front motor and a 165 kW rear motor, producing a total of 239 kW (325 PS) and 605 Nm of torque for dynamic acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. All variants reach a top speed of 185 km/h.

The new Hyundai IONIQ 6 N Line features the same dual-motor AWD configuration, enhanced with dedicated performance calibration, suspension tuning, and sport-specific steering for even more direct feedback and confident stability during cornering – delivering precise control without compromising ride comfort.

Ride and handling characteristics

E-GMP’s modular architecture ensures optimal weight distribution and a low centre of gravity, providing the IONIQ 6 with balanced handling, high stability, and refined comfort. The chassis features a sophisticated five-link rear suspension – typically used in larger vehicle segments – which contributes to superior ride quality and precise control.

The newly calibrated steering system with the three-spoke HDA 2 steering wheel enhances steering feedback and driver confidence, while the platform’s rigid battery structure improves torsional stiffness and crash performance.

The new Hyundai IONIQ 6 N Line benefits from dedicated suspension tuning and steering calibration inspired by the new Hyundai IONIQ 6 N, delivering a sportier and more responsive driving feel while maintaining the smooth, composed ride comfort that defines Hyundai’s Electrified Streamliner.

Regenerative braking and control systems

The new Hyundai IONIQ 6 introduces Hyundai’s Smart Regenerative System 3.0, which automatically adjusts the level of regenerative braking based on data from the vehicle’s front radar and navigation system.

This intelligent system anticipates traffic and road conditions – such as curves, roundabouts, junctions, or speed limits – and optimises deceleration accordingly, reducing the need for manual braking by up to 84 per cent compared to conventional operation.

Drivers can also adjust the regenerative strength manually via the steering wheel paddles, while i-Pedal mode enables true one-pedal driving for maximum energy recovery in stop-and-go traffic. Smart Regenerative System 3.0 operates seamlessly across all speeds, providing smoother deceleration, improved driving comfort, and greater overall efficiency.

Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP)

At the foundation of the new IONIQ 6 lies Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), specifically engineered for next-generation battery electric vehicles. Its low-mounted battery placement ensures a low centre of gravity and optimal weight distribution, delivering secure handling, high stability, and outstanding energy efficiency.

The platform’s flat-floor architecture maximises interior space and contributes to the model’s lounge-like cabin experience, while the rigid battery structure enhances torsional stiffness and crash protection. E-GMP also enables the new Hyundai IONIQ 6’s 800-volt ultra-fast charging capability, allowing energy recovery of up to 351 kilometres (range to be confirmed) in 15 minutes using a 350 kW charger.

Through this advanced platform, the new Hyundai IONIQ 6 combines long-distance comfort and efficiency with a solid, confident driving character that reflects Hyundai’s Electrified Streamliner philosophy.

Range & Charging

The new Hyundai IONIQ 6 builds on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), combining high-efficiency electric performance with outstanding charging capability. The architecture supports both 400- and 800-volt charging infrastructures, allowing ultra-fast energy recovery and maximum driving range.

Battery options and efficiency

Two battery capacities are available: 63.0 kWh (Standard Range) and 84.0 kWh (Long Range). Depending on configuration and wheel size, the new Hyundai IONIQ 6 achieves an all-electric driving range of up to 680 km (WLTP) for the long-range rear-wheel-drive version with 18-inch wheels. The all-wheel-drive variant delivers up to 650 km (WLTP) on 18-inch wheels and 595 km (WLTP) with 20-inch wheels, combining outstanding efficiency with dynamic performance.

Ultra-fast charging performance

Thanks to its 800-volt system architecture, the new Hyundai IONIQ 6 supports DC fast charging up to 350 kW. Under optimal conditions, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 18 minutes, recovering up to 426 kilometres of range in 15 minutes (range to be confirmed).

Charging performance remains stable across a wide range of temperatures thanks to a new battery pre-conditioning function, which automatically adjusts battery temperature when navigating to a charging station in cold weather.

Smart energy management

The battery system features an optimised cooling structure with a separated cooling block that improves thermal stability and energy density while reducing overall system height. Combined with the IONIQ 6’s exceptionally low drag coefficient of 0.21, these refinements ensure maximum efficiency and consistent real-world performance.

Vehicle-to-Load (V2L)

The new Hyundai IONIQ 6 offers bi-directional charging capability, allowing external electrical devices to be powered directly from the vehicle’s battery. The system provides up to 3.6 kW of power, supporting both interior and exterior outlets:

  • Interior V2L port beneath the rear seats for smaller devices
  • Exterior V2L outlet accessible via adapter for higher-demand equipment

V2L can be used while parked or driving, making the new Hyundai IONIQ 6 a flexible energy source for leisure or emergency situations.

Connected charging and route planning

Through Hyundai’s Bluelink® Connected Car Services, drivers can locate charging stations, check availability and estimated charging times, and plan routes that include optimal charging stops. Remote functions allow users to monitor charging status, schedule sessions, or pre-heat the vehicle while connected to an external power source, providing maximum convenience and energy efficiency.

  • Parking and low-speed assistance

The new Hyundai IONIQ 6 features Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2), which allows the vehicle to autonomously enter or exit parking spaces – including diagonal parking – while the driver controls the process remotely via the smart key.

An enhanced Surround View Monitor (SVM) provides sharper high-definition imagery for easier spatial awareness, and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA) actively brakes if pedestrians or obstacles are detected during manoeuvring.

Passive safety and structural integrity

In addition to comprehensive active safety systems, the IONIQ 6 offers robust occupant protection through seven airbags, including a centre-side front airbag that minimises head contact between occupants in the event of a side impact.

The E-GMP platform integrates ultra-high-strength steel and strategically placed energy-absorbing zones to ensure optimal crash performance. A Multi-Collision Braking (MCB) system automatically applies the brakes after an initial impact to reduce the risk of secondary collisions, while Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) and eCall emergency assistance provide additional security in everyday driving.

Together, these technologies make the new Hyundai IONIQ 6 one of the safest and most advanced electric vehicles in its segment – combining predictive intelligence, driver comfort, and outstanding crash protection.
