- The latest i30 family evolves Hyundai’s design language with a timeless and sculptural design combining precise, tensed lines and refined rich surfaces.
The combination of excellent functionality such as roominess, good visibility and comfort is complimented by a sensuous and confident expression of design. It was the first model to feature the Cascading Grille, which has become the new family identity for Hyundai models.
The upright front of the i30 is confident and expressive, celebrating the Cascading Grille that is characterised by a downward tapering gesture inspired by the flow of molten steel. The grille features chrome-plated dots for a sophisticated appearance that enhance the satin chrome surrounding on the standard version. In combination with the three-projector LED (low and high beam) headlamps – on Premium, Premium SE and N Line+ models –and the vertical LED daytime running lights with indicator function, the i30 has a strong visual presence. To further enhance this, projector-type front fog lamps are integrated into the air curtains.
With its harmonious proportions, short front and rear overhangs, a long bonnet and a tapered roof silhouette, the car gets a sporty appearance and solid stance on the road. The i30 features a sophisticated sleek character line that flows naturally from the headlamp along the almost horizontal belt line to connect with the LED rear lamps and further wraps around the rear for a timeless appearance. The rear spoiler enhances aerodynamics and makes the i30 look even more dynamic and compact. With a drag coefficient (Cd) of only 0.30, aerodynamic performance is enhanced through several measures including an Active Air Flap behind the front grille and Air Curtains on each side of the front bumper to enhance airflow and reduce turbulence in the wheel housings.
New for the 2019 model year, the i30 and i30 Tourer are equipped with the updated bumper first seen on the i30 Fastback. The model’s muscular wide rear design, with a sculpted and three-dimensional appearance and the signature light graphic incorporating the high-positioned reflectors and fog lamps, sets the car apart on the road.
The Hyundai i30 is available with 17-inch two-tone 10-spoke alloy wheels, 16-inch two-tone 10-spoke alloy wheels or 15-inch wheels.
There are nine exterior colours available for customers to personalise their car, consisting of solid Engine Red and Polar White; metallic hues of Fiery Red, White Sand and Micron Grey; and pearl finishes in Platinum Silver and Phantom Black. New across the i30 range for the 2019 model year are Olivine Grey and Stellar Blue.
N Line trim
The i30 N Line is the first Hyundai model with the new trim, featuring exterior and interior design elements known from the high-performance i30 N, to enhance the visual appeal of i30.
Among the design upgrades are the front and rear bumpers, exclusively accented for N Line with a silver paint line. The 18-inch alloy wheels are made available on the i30 5-door for the first time, creating a more dynamic aesthetic. The new twin muffler at the rear is another design cue that marks out the i30 N Line from its siblings. On the front wings, a newly-created badge signals the N Line model.
Getting into the Hyundai i30, customers are greeted by a clean and intuitive interior with a horizontal layout that conveys an elegant impression and a feeling of roominess. Chrome surrounds and high-quality interior materials provide a calm and sophisticated atmosphere. The floating screen of the eight-inch display audio system (on SE models) or navigation system (from SE Nav upwards) on the dashboard integrates all navigation, media and connectivity features and allows drivers to focus on the road ahead thanks to its ergonomic position.
The multifunction three-spoke steering wheel allows easy and intuitive operation of all functions through ergonomically-positioned operation controls, and can be heated (on Premium SE models) for enhanced comfort. The climate and temperature controls are positioned conveniently in the centre console and can be easily operated through the dials without distracting the driver.
Unique to the i30 N Line models, customers can also choose N-branded faux leather and suede sport seats for better lateral support. The bespoke perforated leather sport steering wheel and the N gear shift knob give the driver a more engaging driving experience.
The i30 offers plenty of space for passengers and luggage alike and does not compromise on interior roominess for its sporty exterior design. The i30 makes driving comfortable for all passengers with segment-leading roominess. The feeling of space is enhanced by the optional panoramic glass sunroof which allows to tilt or to slide open.
While driving, the armrest can slide forward for the most comfortable position and may also be opened to access additional storage possibilities underneath. To enable customers to carry everything they need, the i30 offers generous luggage capacity of up to 395 litres (VDA) and a maximum of 1,301 litres with the seats folded flat. Practicality is enhanced with a practical two-stage luggage board and a ski hatch in the rear centre seat.
The i30 Tourer offers even more substantial luggage space, with a competitive-in-class capacity of 602 litres (VDA) with the rear seats in place, and 1,650 litres (VDA) with the rear seats lowered. Tourer-specific standard equipment also includes a Cargo Screen and Safety Barrier Net, as well as silver roof rails.
For the interior, customers can choose from two colour options (from SE models upwards): Oceanids Black or Slate Grey, with upholstery in cloth, a mixture of cloth and faux leather, or with real leather seat facings, depending on trim level.
For enhanced comfort the front seats can be heated three stages on Premium, Premium SE and N Line+ models. Customers who choose power front seats benefit from 10-way adjustable movement including lumbar support, while the driver’s seat now features a memory function with two programmable seat positions.
