How the world's media has reacted to the New Generation Hyundai i30

- Hyundai unveiled its answer to changing contemporary values and customer preferences with the New Generation i30. Jochen Sengpiehl, Peter Schreyer and Raf van Nuffel presented the car to the media.

The New Generation Hyundai i30 has been launched. Designed and produced by Hyundai Motor in Germany, it represents the core of the brand in Europe. Boasting connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and wireless charging, as well as active safety features to assist drivers as they navigate tricky road conditions, the new i30 is a car for everyone.

Following yesterday's world premiere, the world's press has reacted to the new model, which will be available to drive in early 2017. Here's what has been said so far.

1. In Germany, the reaction has been very positive. Focus.de reported on the technological upgrades to the i30: “Not only the design is likeable, the technology has also been completely renewed.”

2. Auto Bild noted the new frontal design of the grille, which will be a hallmark of all future models: “The design of the front is a harbinger of the design of the upcoming Hyundai models: The grille tapers downwards – the Koreans call it the “Cascading grille”.

3. Marca of Spain was also impressed by the cascading grille, saying that the design is characterised by “timeless elegance”.

4. Autopista.es believes that the i30 will appeal to a wide range of people due to its new design and technology: “Being more modern, technological and lightweight, the new Hyundai i30 will capture the attention for its interesting solutions in connectivity, design and usability”.

5. In the UK, meanwhile, Autocar praised the i30’s spacious interior: “Interior space is claimed to be class-leading, with the feeling of roominess being further enhanced by an optional panoramic sunroof which can tilt or slide open.”

6. Car magazine Auto Trader was impressed by the driver-friendly updates to the New Generation i30: “More active safety features, better connectivity, and better build quality.”

7. What Car had warm words to say about the i30’s steering and handling: “Hyundai has worked hard on the new i30’s dynamics, promising improved ride and handling for the car, as well as more feel and directness from the steering.”

8. In Italy, Quattroruote gave the i30’s connectivity features high praise, calling them “state-of-the-art”.

9. French publication L’argus believes the new i30 offers value for money, while being an enjoyable drive: “This new generation wants to be more fun to drive and more economical”.

10. Finally, Caradisiac noted how the car’s development at Hyundai’s European design centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany, ensured it had “serious and Germanic styling”.
