New Hyundai Santa Fe’s best-in-class safety package enhanced

  • New Santa Fe improved with Blind-Spot View Monitor safety feature
  • Santa Fe is the second Hyundai model with this technology, after it was introduced as an industry-first feature on NEXO
  • Hyundai is the first carmaker to provide drivers with video footage from both sides of the vehicle

- The New Hyundai Santa Fe has received recognition from across Europe for its innovative and reliable safety credentials.

Since launching last year, the SUV has earned a maximum 5-star rating from Euro NCAP and a SAFETYBEST award for its Rear Occupant Alert technology. After NEXO, the New Santa Fe is the second Hyundai model to be equipped with the innovative Blind-Spot View Monitor safety feature.

Blind-Spot View Monitor was an industry-first technology from Hyundai Motor when it came to the NEXO in 2018. Now available with the New Santa Fe, it shows drivers the rearward left- and right-hand side views of the SUV on a screen within the driver’s display through the use of cameras activated by the use of the turn indicator as the Santa Fe changes lanes in either direction.

The system uses wide-angle surround view monitors on each side of the vehicle to capture areas that cannot be seen by a conventional rear- or side-view mirror. The technology also enhances visibility in difficult driving conditions such as darkness or rainy weather.

Hyundai is the first carmaker to provide drivers with video footage from both sides of the vehicle.

With the added option of the Blind-Spot View Monitor safety feature, the New Santa Fe’s renowned array of safety technologies cares about our customers’ well-being to an unprecedented degree. The fourth-generation model of our flagship SUV offers one of the best-in-class safety packages.

New Hyundai Santa Fe: designed to prioritise care for its passengers

Since the launch of the first Santa Fe in Europe in 2000, Hyundai has become an established brand in the SUV segment. The fourth-generation model also builds on the success of its predecessors by offering Hyundai SmartSense™ active safety and driving assistance technologies.

The innovative Rear Occupant Alert monitors the rear seats to detect passengers and alert the driver that there are still passengers in the rear seat when leaving the car.

Rear Cross-Traffic Alert – Avoidance Assist is also a Hyundai first. When reversing out of areas with low visibility, the system not only warns the driver if vehicles are approaching from the rear side, it also applies the brakes automatically.

Meanwhile, Safety Exit Assist prevents accidents by sensing when vehicles approach from behind by temporarily locking the doors before being opened, so that passengers can exit the car safely.

The Santa Fe available with Blind-Spot View Monitor will begin deliveries to European customers in mid-Summer, exact start dates depending on the individual markets.
