Media reaction to the New Generation Hyundai i30 Driving Experience

- International automotive journalists descended on sun-kissed Marbella to get hands-on with the New Generation Hyundai i30.

The DNA car for Hyundai Motor in Europe, the New Generation i30 is designed, developed, tested, and manufactured on the continent. With the most advanced active safety features, cutting edge connectivity technology, and improved performance, it is designed to be a car for everyone.

The beautiful city of Marbella on Spain’s spectacular Costa de Sol provided the backdrop for a host of leading international journalists to take a closer look at the Hyundai car as part of the New Generation Hyundai i30 Driving Experience.

Here’s what they had to say.

1. In the UK, the Telegraph praised the design and interior, but in particular, the driving performance: “The ride comfort is exceptionally good, the noise suppression levels are off the charts and the drivetrain is refined to the point of near-silence during partial throttle openings.”

2. AutoExpress noted the array of connectivity features: “It brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility along with navigation with TomTom live traffic updates. There’s also an induction charging mat for smartphones.”

3. Express.co.uk acknowledged the engine improvements: “The i30 also marks a new introduction to its powertrain range with a 1.4 T-GDi 140PS engine with 6 speed manual or 7 speed DCT transmission.”

4. Germany’s Bild stated: “what sets the i30 apart from the numerous competitors are the various assistance systems. High-beam assistant, fatigue alert, city emergency brake and an active tracking assistant are already standard in the basic model.”

5. Switzerland’s Blick praised the i30 as a car styled, developed, and built for Europe: “The new Hyundai i30 convinces with design and quality as a European car.”

6. In Italy, Quattroroute proclaimed that yes, the i30 is “spacious, practical, easy to drive” but also much more.

7. In Spain, Autopista.es was impressed with the new look: “On the outside, the renovated and attractive exterior design stands out, with a longer body, wider and lower than the 2016 model, boasting a hexagonal-shaped grid at the front and LED technology in the headlamps.”

8. Marca highlighted the driver cockpit with simplified connectivity, centre console, and easy to read instrumentation, with particular praise for another feature: “The steering wheel deserves special attention. The thickness and feel are almost perfect and make driving especially pleasurable. Definitely a big plus.”

9. And, ABC.es had warm words for the “discreet and elegant aesthetics” which aimed “to continue the success of the previous two generations of the model, which has sold more than 800,000 cars in Europe since 2008.”
