Preparations for this summer’s UEFA European Football Championship in France are in full swing.
Before the competition, from 1 April to 9 June, the UEFA EURO 2016 Trophy Tour will pass through the 25 host cities of the preliminary rounds to prepare the French people to welcome this major sporting event. In eleven of these cities a specially designed Hyundai Tucson SUV will take over the trophy, the Henri Delaunay Cup, carrying it safely in a unique display case.
By supporting the parade of the trophy tour with our specially designed Tucson compact SUV decorated in UEFA EURO 2016 colours, we are helping to provide maximum exposure for the Henri Delaunay Cup to the public before it is awarded to the winning team of the European football championship on 10 July at the Stade de France.

Thomas A. Schmid Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor Europe

A delicate task

The tour train will be painted in UEFA EURO 2016 colours with four themed carriages offering no less than thirty displays to the general public. It will stay in each city for two or three days, with an official opening when it arrives, followed by a trophy parade. In eleven of the 25 tour cities, Hyundai Motor’s Tucson compact SUV will have the delicate task of transporting the trophy, the Henri Delaunay Cup, during the parade. Mounted in a one-off display case in the rear of the Tucson, the cup will travel under maximum security. An electric platform will allow the case to be raised or lowered, depending on whether the vehicle is moving or stationary. People can have their photographs taken beside the trophy and an interface will allow everyone to retrieve their photos.
The Hyundai Tucson will be part of the parade in the following cities: Caen (4-5 April), Amiens (6-7 April), Lens (8-10 April), Mulhouse (11-12 April), Toulouse (6-8 May), Marseilles (13-15 May), Montpellier (16-17 May), Besançon (30-31 May), Reims (1-2 June), Lyon (3-5 June) and Strasbourg (6-7 June).

Fastest-selling European model

The All-New Tucson has been Hyundai Motor’s fastest-selling European model since sales began in September 2015. It is also one of the safest vehicles in its segment and received the maximum five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. Hyundai Motor manufactures 100% of Tucson models sold in European markets at its facility in the Czech Republic - a key part of its commitment to the region. The company’s confidence in its European build quality means that every Tucson will come with the brand industry-leading Five Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty as standard.
