Heading to a third consecutive record year for Hyundai
According the latest registration data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), the company sold 397,907 cars in the first nine months of 2017. In the third quarter, Hyundai Motor sold 126,986 units – another record three-month result for the company.
Hyundai Motor Europe’s car sales continue to grow across the European market. In September alone, sales rose by 2.1 or 52,518 registrations, compared to September 2016. Sales in France (+17.0%) and Spain (+10.0%) were particularly strong in the third quarter of 2017.

The first nine months of 2017 with sales up by 3% on to the same period in 2016 were a further success story for Hyundai Motor Europe.
Since 1977, Hyundai Motor has sold more than 7.5 million cars in Europe. Our strong European focus has proven to be a key to the company’s success and is driving sales forward. Especially Hyundai’s top sellers the i10, i20, i30 and the compact SUV Tucson are powering our ongoing record sales performance. For the full year, we expect a third year of consecutive record growth, underscoring our aim to become the leading Asian automotive brand in Europe by 2021.
The SUV range in particular, with the Hyundai Tucson, has been a strong growth driver. Launched in 2015, the Tucson accounts for more than 300,000 units sold and is Hyundai’s best-selling new model in Europe, highlighting Hyundai Motor’s proven SUV competence.
Hyundai Motor’s i10, i20 and i30 continue to sell in high sales volumes. Furthermore, the launch of the New Generation i30 Wagon in the first quarter 2017 led to the highest share of limousines for Hyundai in Europe. The launch of the All-New KONA and the i30 N were two milestones on Hyundai’s way to become the number one Asian automotive brand in Europe, ushering in the 30 new models and derivatives the carmaker plans to launch by 2021 to support its growth strategy.
