My name is David and I'll be covering the world premiere of the New Generation Hyundai i30. Check back throughout the day for updates, including exclusive images and the big reveal at 15.00 CEST.

Upon entry, I was greeted by the IONIQ and ix35 Fuel Cell, two environmentally-friendly Hyundai vehicles at the forefront of innovation. I’m currently in Room 1, which is showcasing Hyundai’s Brand DNA, as a resident DJ spins some tunes in the corner. The setup here is dominated by white, and it's clear Hyundai want to signal that they are ready to "move on". The new i30 was specifically chosen for this, as it was the first Hyundai vehicle to bear the famous "i" name, and a cornerstone of the brand's strategy in Europe.
Right, that'll be all for the time being. I'll be back at 13.00 with more news from this event.

It's now really crowded here, as hundreds of top journalists from Europe have arrived. There is a big sign on show that explains all about Hyundai's development in Europe, its factories and its design centre. There are also lots of LED screens featuring information about the company in general, including historic milestones, artwork, and several brand exhibits. Did you know that 155,000 people owe their jobs to the presence of Hyundai Motor in Europe? Or that the company has completed 20,000 laps of testing at the Nürburgring?
I've also learned that the New Generation i30 was designed and developed in Europe at Hyundai Motor Europe’s Technical Centre in Rüsselsheim, and produced in Nošovice, Czech Republic.
The atmosphere is jovial, and people I have spoken to are excited about the presentation of the new i30, due to take place in Room 2 in just under an one hour time at 15.00.

And here it is, the new Hyundai i30! It certainly looks the part, and boasts a newly developed Cascading Grille at the front, which features chrome-plated dots as well as a sculpted body that instantly sets it apart from the current version. I have to say it looks very sophisticated and, as expected, technological advancements play a central role with the new version.
Connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and wireless charging come as standard, while active safety features assist drivers as they navigate tricky road conditions. We’ve been treated to speeches from Jochen Sengpiehl, Vice President Marketing at Hyundai Motor Europe, who spoke about the development of the Hyundai brand in Europe, and Raf Van Nuffel, Head of Product Management and Pricing. He explained the technical details about the i30, including the engine.
President and Chief Design Officer Peter Schreyer discussed Hyundai’s design strategy, the elements that come together to create a car's look and feel. And finally Raf Van Nuffel, Head of Product Management & Pricing talked about connectivity, the range of safety features and engineering aspects in the making of the new i30.

Customers can choose from three petrol engines and one 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine, and it is the first Hyundai model available with the new turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, the 1.4 T-GDI with 140 PS (Fuel consumption combined: 5.5 - 4.8 l/100 km; urban: 6.6 - 5.9 l/100 km; extra-urban: 5.0 - 4.1 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 125 - 109 g/km ). A high-performance i30 N will also go into production in 2017.

I’ll now go to spend some time in Room 3 to learn more about the new i30's features. I've had a very enjoyable day, and will shortly bid farewell and head back to Hamburg. Thank you for following the live blog.
