The Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid won the Car of the Year Award in the Compact Car category at the 2017 Trophées Argus.
The jury of 23 journalists of the French car magazine L‘Argus praised the IONIQ’s attractive design and spaciousness as well as the high quality of its driving and safety assistance systems. Other nominees in the same category were the Fiat Tipo, the Infiniti Q30, the Renault Scénic dCi and the fourth-generation Toyota Prius.
This is the second Car of the Year Award in a row for the Hyundai IONIQ – first Norway and now France. This reinforces our conviction that the IONIQ is the best-value eco-car in Europe. The line-up including the IONIQ Hybrid offers the best warranty and is fully equipped for a very competitive price and with no compromises as regards design, driving pleasure or connectivity.

Thomas A. Schmid Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor Europe

This award recognises a vehicle that is unique amongst its peers – the All-New IONIQ and its three eco-friendly powertrains.

Lionel French Keogh Managing Director of Hyundai Motor France

Three powertrains – one car platform

The Hyundai IONIQ is the first vehicle to offer three electrified powertrains within one body type: hybrid, all-electric, and plug-in hybrid. The line-up provides eco-conscious mobility without compromise in great design, fun-to-drive, smart connectivity or advanced safety. Besides a 2016 Red Dot Design Award, the IONIQ also recently received the maximum five-star safety rating from the independent vehicle assessment organisation Euro NCAP, again thanks to its comprehensive active safety systems, equipped as standard. The IONIQ Hybrid and the IONIQ Electric are now on sale throughout Europe, the IONIQ Plug-in will follow in 2017.

High fuel efficiency – low CO2 emissions

Among the technical highlights of the IONIQ Hybrid are its first-in-class fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions of just 79 grams per kilometre (Fuel consumption combined: 3.9 - 3.4 l/100 km; urban: 3.9 - 3.4 l/100 km; extra-urban: 3.9 - 3.6 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 92 - 79 g/km). The six-speed dual-clutch transmission provides direct driver engagement, while offering comfortable and efficient driving in automatic mode. The car's lightweight structure, multilink rear suspension and intelligent powertrain configuration also contribute to the driving experience.

Smart on demand – always safe

IONIQ also delivers smart infotainment features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless smartphone connectivity and wireless inductive charging for compatible devices. LIVE services provide useful information on an eight-inch display, including a new audiovisual navigation system.
Besides superior passive safety thanks to a rigid body featuring 53% Advanced High Strength Steel, the IONIQ includes numerous active safety features, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist and Smart Cruise Control, equipped as standard.

Streamlined silhouette – great value

The coupé-like silhouette of the IONIQ not only catches the eye, it also helps to ensure a class-leading drag coefficient of just 0.24 Cd, while offering a spacious interior and generous storage space.
To its industry-leading Five Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty, Hyundai Motor adds an eight-year, 200,000-kilometre warranty on the IONIQ’s high-voltage battery. Together with a comprehensive list of standard features and its competitive price, the IONIQ provides unique value among alternative-powertrain cars.
