Following a successful first half for Hyundai Motor in Europe, the company’s sales figures increased by 0.8% during the first nine months of 2019 compared to the same period in 2018.

Wider industry sales were down -1.6%, meaning that Hyundai outpaced the industry trend. In total, the brand sold 428,861 cars from January to September 2019, according to the latest registration data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).

Outperforming a stagnating automotive market in Europe, Hyundai continued to gain market share. The main growth territories year-on-year were Germany (12.1%) and France (8.9%). The company’s multiple new model launches over the past few years have been a key factor in this success. The automaker also boasts one of the youngest line-ups in the industry.

Hyundai’s main sales drivers from January to September were the Tucson, Kona and i-range, which includes models such as the i10, i20 and i30. Its future mobility models like the Kona Electric have also performed strongly, demonstrating that Hyundai is fit for the future. With a range of product updates due next year, the brand anticipates it will perform even more strongly in 2020.

Another important success factor is Hyundai’s progressive future mobility line-up. With the New IONIQ range, the Kona Electric and fuel cell-powered NEXO, Hyundai offers a wider range of electrified models than any other manufacturer. The company expects that these models, alongside the recently launched All-New Kona Hybrid, will sustain its position as a leader in eco-mobility.

By offering the widest range of powertrains and the youngest model range in Europe, we have out-performed the industry in the first nine months of 2019. This year, we have renewed our IONIQ range, introduced the All-New i10 and expanded our award-winning Kona family with the All-New Kona Hybrid. This means we offer even more choices for Hyundai customers and illustrates that we are fit for the future.
