Hyundai Motor has handed over the first 15 IONIQ Hybrid vehicles to the new Stadtauto (meaning ‘city car’) car sharing service in Vienna. The car sharing service is operated by greenmove.
Its full operation with 70 cars is scheduled to start by spring 2018. Stadtauto is a location-based car sharing service where the cars are returned to the dedicated pick-up points after use. After entering their personal data digitally on the Stadtauto website (www.stadtauto.at) to register and paying a one-off registration fee, the customers can start driving on demand. They can download the Stadtauto app free of charge via the iTunes app store and Google play store to check vehicle availability or to directly book a car. Thanks to several individual subscription models, customers only pay the service that best suits their usage habits.
With the delivery of 15 of our IONIQ Hybrid vehicles to the Stadtauto car sharing service in Vienna, we are making environment-friendly driving accessible to the inhabitants of the Austrian capital. Last month we started our own pure-electric car sharing program in Amsterdam, and now the investment in the Viennese car sharing is the next step to pursue our global sustainability strategy for a cleaner future. By 2020 we will launch 15 eco cars to further strengthen our already strong position in eco mobility.

Thomas A. Schmid Chief Operating Officer at Hyundai Motor Europe

The IONIQ Hybrid’s electric motor delivers up to 32 kW (43.5 PS) and, in combination with the 1.6-litre GDI engine, a system output of 103.6 kW (141 PS). With fuel consumption of 3.9 - 3.4 l/100 km* and CO2 emissions of 92-79 g/km (combined)*, the IONIQ Hybrid is leading in its class. The car sharing fleet in Vienna will be switched progressively to pure-electric vehicles after installing charging stations at the sites.
In October 2017, Hyundai Motor Europe opened the first company-operated electric car sharing service in metropolitan Amsterdam. Consisting of 100 IONIQ Electric models each offering a range of 280 km on a single charge, “IONIQ car sharing” in the Dutch capital provides the longest range currently available in a pure-electric car sharing service across Europe. With the IONIQ line-up Hyundai Motor is the first car manufacturer offering three electrified powertrains in one body type: hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric. Since entering the market in autumn 2016 Hyundai Motor has sold more than 23,000 units of the IONIQ range.
