Hyundai H350: the highest test drive

The H350: Hyundai Motor’s first LCV in the big van segment in Europe

Hyundai Motor unveiled the new, Euro6-compliant Hyundai H350 at the 2016 IAA Commercial Vehicles Show in Hanover, Germany. Designed and built in Europe, it is the first Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) Hyundai launched in the big van segment on the continent. Manufactured on a dedicated assembly line, the H350 is available in three solutions: a van version, a chassis-cab version and a bus version. It features an enhanced Euro6-compliant engine with lower fuel consumption.
The Hyundai H350 combines optimal cargo space, ergonomic design and strong performance, as well as being driver-focused and true to Hyundai’s core design principles of safety, ease-of-use and simplicity. The H350 also brings smart technologies and car-like comforts to the LCV segment, including user-friendly cruise control, a rear safety camera, a park assist system and a rain sensor that triggers its windscreen wipers.
Already on sale in 15 European countries, the H350 is crossing frontiers, delivering performance and demonstrating its competitiveness in other regions such as the Middle East, Asia Pacific and South America.

After being unveiled at last year’s Hanover Motor Show, the New H350 is now demonstrating its competitiveness across the world and was recently tested in extreme conditions in Peru.

The highest test drive: extreme testing in Peru

To mark the Hyundai H350’s launch in Peru, the vehicle was taken to the diverse Peruvian countryside for an extreme test to demonstrate the commercial vehicle’s strong performance and capabilities in all conditions, beginning with a demanding start by the seaside in Lima up to the highest altitudes in the Andes.
Peru offers an ideal environment for the test due to its challenging conditions and diverse climate. The country experiences very little rainfall on the subtropical coast, while the eastern lowlands feature hot weather and rain throughout the year. The Andes mountains exhibit the largest diversity in the country, with rainy summers and a very dry winter.
The test was conducted in seven stages from the coast close to the capital Lima up through some of the most difficult paths in the Andes mountains, and saw the H350 overcome high altitude mountain passes such as Abra Antajirca, which sits an eye-popping 4,780 metres above sea level, and Ticlio, which is even higher at 4,818 metres above sea level, making it Hyundai’s highest test drive. Despite the altitude creating less oxygen in the air and affecting the performance of the engine, the H350 demonstrated excellent capabilities and continued to consume low amounts of fuel even in extreme conditions.

The spacious and fuel-efficient H350 is packed with modern technology and active safety features

The H350’s powerful and fuel efficient 2.5-litre turbo diesel engine is combined with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. It offers best-in-class driving dynamics and efficiency, and is available with an Active Eco Drive mode as standard, which further reduces fuel consumption by adapting the vehicle’s engine characteristics to driving behaviour.
In addition to this, the H350 offers a spacious interior with passenger car comfort. The van version boasts a gross payload of up to 1,320 kg and can carry up to five Euro pallets, delivering best-in-class cargo space in the six-metre van segment. Its rear doors are designed to swing through to an optional 270 degrees, and fasten safely onto the sidewalls in order to minimise the risk of casual or wind damage when loading or unloading.
The H350 includes optional modern features such as Park Assist System and rear safety camera to make it easier for drivers to negotiate narrow streets and awkward spaces. The rear-view display system provides a clear 135-degree panoramic display on the touchscreen or rear-view mirror, which reduces the risk of damage when parking.
Safety is another important feature of the H350. Its Vehicle Dynamic Control System consists of up to nine electronic devices that assist and protect the driver, including roll-over mitigation, emergency stop signals, engine drag control and a lane departure warning system.

The H350 offers tailored warranty to meet all customers' needs

Hyundai's extreme test drive in Peru demonstrated the H350's robustness and competitiveness in severe conditions thanks to its high quality build, reliability and product value. Hyundai's confidence in the H350 is reflected in the superior flexible pan-European warranty programme, which allows customers to choose between a 3-year unlimited mileage warranty or a unique a 5-year, 200,000 km warranty, depending on their needs. With this option, Hyundai is catering to the different needs and business requirements of its customers, from long-distance parcel delivery operators to local urban businesses with low mileage.
