Hyundai Motor presents the All-New IONIQ on the Generation IONIQ Tour, visiting major cities around Europe.
It begins in Frankfurt am Main from 29 August to 6 September, in front of the Skyline Plaza, where visitors can test-drive the car to experience the merits of the electrified models. On the Generation IONIQ Tour, interested visitors are welcome daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The tour will continue after its German debut, welcoming guests in Oslo, Amsterdam and Milan.
The Hyundai IONIQ is the world’s first car to offer hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric powertrains in a single body type. This innovative new approach from Hyundai Motor democratises e-mobility, making low-to-zero emission driving more accessible to everyone.
With IONIQ, we are appealing to a new customer group, with a shared mind-set and attitude - we call them Generation IONIQ. Like them, we believe in the technology, which is why we created the only car with the choice of three electrified powertrains. Our launch approach for IONIQ is also very contemporary, reflecting our digital times, and the Generation IONIQ Tour complements this by bringing the cars to the people.

Jochen Sengpiehl Vice President Marketing at Hyundai Motor Europe

In the Q-shaped pavilion visitors are acquainted with the car by means of augmented reality, an especially entertaining and informative integration of computer-based content into reality. A specially-developed IONIQ app provides additional information about the details of the car that the user receives by means of the camera of a tablet or smartphone. Viewed through virtual reality glasses, the IONIQ is seen in an exciting way in a 360° video. A further highlight is the digital wish wall, enabling visitors to express their wishes for the future and share the video link with friends via the social networks.
Focusing in particular on digital communication channels for its campaigns, the company has created contents to explain the IONIQ’s technologies and to showcase the advantages of each powertrain, informing customers about each solution. Videos, graphics and augmented reality content provide an information-rich customer experience, online, on mobile devices and in the showroom environment. IONIQ pre-launch and launch campaigns are based around a digital hub, with all contents in one central location. A simple, transparent comparison tool helps to quickly compare IONIQ to key competitors. With an analytics-driven approach, Hyundai Motor can serve the information needs of customers: for example mobile search is optimised, as it is an important channel for the target customer group.
The IONIQ Hybrid and the IONIQ Electric will be launched in European markets from autumn 2016 onwards. The IONIQ Plug-in will be launched in Europe in 2017. (Launch timings may vary depending on market.)
